Skylights are a desirable feature in places where the demand for natural sunlight and warmth is high. These are a blessing in rooms where windows are ineffectual or unavailable to let in enough air and light, like a bathroom, library, or even a study. You can also buy velux skylights, roof windows, and sun tunnels online.

Skylights look charming but they have to be perfectly suited to your house and your needs if they are to deliver pleasing results. For instance, skylights that are not properly insulated may lead to water leaks within the room. Condensation problems may also cause water to drip into the room, as there is a good difference in temperature between the inside and outside of the glass.
In general, skylights are made of plastic or glass. Their frames may be made of metal, wood, vinyl, or a combination of these. In some cases, the curb may be made from wood, plywood, or vinyl and the rest of the frame may be made of aluminum or vinyl.
These days, vinyl skylights are becoming more and more popular. The main reason is the property of the vinyl seaming in skylights which acts as a temperature regulator. Regardless of the temperature outside, this vinyl seaming keeps the inside of the room habitable.
That said, it must be kept in mind that skylights, in general, are more suited to mild climates, where sun exposure is limited. Glass is a good conductor of heat and it cannot act as an effective barrier against the hot sun even if it is tinted. Vinyl can offer only so much protection from the heat outside.
