HVAC Basics Guide – Air Conditioning Control Systems

Usually, this temperature is read either from the controller itself or, more often, from the device's air return box, which is located in the roof space. Sometimes when the temperature is read on an air return box, it's not an accurate representation of room temperature.

The room itself may be quite cold, but when the air is returned to the air box again, it may have heated up significantly, which means the air conditioner is still working. In this situation, the device continues to function even though people are cold. However, there are two ways to deal with this. If you increase the control temperature, the device turns off faster.

It should be noted that the temperature set on the controller is usually inaccurate, but it works like a scale. Second, some people place a fixed constant in their passageway near the air return grille. As the name suggests, this constant is always active. This allows the conditioned air to easily return to the device return box, which can turn off the device.
